What are they doing?

This blog will be chronicling the adventures of two avid motorcycle riders, SilverSTreak (Bill) on his Honda ST1300 and FUN GS (Larry) on his BMW GS Adventure, as they ride around the country working to complete all four of the Team Strange Airheads 30th Anniversary "Memory Lane" Grand Tours.

For full details on what this means please see:

Team Strange Memory Lane Tours <-----Click here

That link above explains in detail each one of the four "Grand Tours" we are doing.

The short explanation is this:

"I've Been Everywhere Man Tour" - abbreviated IBEW
Visit as many of the cities/towns mentioned in the song "I've Been Everywhere Man" by Johnny cash (and others)

"Presidential Tour" - Abbreviated "Presidential"
Visit as many cities/towns and counties named after past presidents. There are some "bonus points" for things like Presidential Libraries, the Eisenhower Tunnel, etc.

"Touch 'em All Baseball Tour" - Abbreviated "BBT"
Visit as many major and/or minor league baseball parks as possible. There are some additional bonus points for The Louisville Slugger Museum, the Negro League Baseball Museum, etc.

"Team Strange 30th Anniversary Grand Tour" - Abbreviated "TS30GT"
Visit towns with first letters to spell out "Team Strange Airheads 30" - With any Route 30 sign for the 30, and as a special level using a different state for each town.

We have done our planning, and registered for the rides. Our plans call for us to visit some 160+ locations over the course of approximately 45 not necessarily consecutive days, covering some 17,000 miles in the process. This blog is intended primarily for friends and family who wish to follow us on our tours. As such, it will contain commentary and photos of the adventure as it unfolds.

Here's a screen capture of our planned adventure:

  1. My husband found your blog and told me about it. I'm having trouble understanding where you're heading next, but we would sure love to meet up with you along your way. We are out riding ourselves, permanently. We live on the road, out of hotels, motels and vacation rentals. We'll be traveling through South Dakota, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and California from now until the end of November. We don't move as quickly as you do. We take time to stop and enjoy the area, since we've got the time to do so.
I'll start following you now so we can hopefully meet up with you.
    Ride Fun!

    1. Sash - Thanks for the comment. I'm afraid we're headed east now so won't be able to meet you on this trip. Maybe next time. I don't know how you folks do it. After 5 weeks on the road, I am ready to get home for a bit!
